I WANTED TO MAKE MY OWN MONEY AND DO IT FAST.
I thought I had a vision. My dad was a successful life insurance salesman. He had his own firm down the road. I figured that if I understand how money worked, I could make a lot of money, so I went to school for finance. My goal was to work at my dad’s firm and help manage money.
I started out doing technical sales support. After a year, I was set to make $55,000/year, feeling less hopeful for my future goals by the path I was then trotting and questioning if it was what I really wanted to follow. I yearned to feel like I was creating my own journey without the feeling I had to do it as part of a business that was provided to me.
If I wanted to control my income, it was time for me to make my own money. If I wanted to buy the things I really wanted, and live the lifestyle I desired, I had to find a different way.
I BROKE THE 7 FIGURE MARK.
In 2015, I was invited to Texas to sell home security systems. It was my first attempt at sales. It was rough. Rejection, lack of confidence, and doubt overwhelmed me.
I was about to throw in the towel when my wife reminded me that I never quit. She reminded me that I have always been able to figure things out and do well. So I buckled down and became a student of the business.
Two months later, I had earned $30,000. I got hooked. What took me about 6 months, I was able to do in 2 months. It was because of my wife and my persistence, that in a span of a few years, I became a millionaire.
IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY. IT’S ABOUT THE IMPACT.
I felt really blessed that I was young, successful, and self-sufficient. I was able to provide for my family and help friends and family through various impacts of illnesses and life’s unexpected events. I started to realize more and more that I could affect my community and the world with the time, money, and freedom I achieved. And it felt good.
My pursuit was no longer how much money I could make, but how much good could I do.
I GOT MY TIME BACK TO DO WHAT MATTERS MOST.
I’ve always looked for platforms where I could earn the amount of money I wanted, but not sacrifice my values. In the beginning, I did invest my time to learn sales, business, and leadership. But soon after, I was able reclaim my time and achieve greater rewards.
Today, I spend less hours a day on the business. The rest of my time, I am with friends and family, traveling, investing in my personal growth, or contributing to the growth and advancement of others.
With the time and money freedom I have achieved, the question I often entertain is “How much more good can I do? How many more lives can I impact?”
I want my kids to see how operating from a space of generosity and abundance can change people’s lives and that of the community. I want them to see how hard work and dedication to a big vision can move mountains. I want them to witness that the more good they put out into the world, the more good comes back to them.
